Your child-friendly taxi service at Malaga Airport
Travelling with children can be challenging: they need to eat at the right time, rest properly and avoid long waits —just like adults!— but even more so. That’s why we make your transfer to your accommodation as smooth as possible. Upon arrival at Malaga Airport, your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall as soon as your flight lands, holding a sign with your name. He will greet you and assist with your luggage. The vehicle will already be equipped with the exact child seat you requested during your booking, so you won’t waste a single minute getting to your destination and will avoid queues or unnecessary delays.
Rules when travelling with children in your private transfer
Although we know children often enjoy snacks during a journey, eating inside our vehicles is not permitted. This helps us maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort for all our passengers. To avoid any inconvenience, we kindly ask that if any traveller needs a snack, it is eaten before the journey begins. We appreciate your understanding. Regarding drinks, only water is allowed inside the vehicle.
Types of child seats
At MarbeTaxi we strictly follow European regulations, and all our child seats are fully approved and certified. For this reason, even if you are used to different child seat models in your home country, please note that we must use the officially authorised Spanish/EU models, selected according to your child’s height, weight and the legally required direction of travel.
Group 0 – Infant Seat (0–9 kg)
Suitable for newborns up to approximately 6 months. Babies travel rear-facing with comfortable restraints that secure them safely inside the infant seat, which also includes an integrated safety harness.
Group 1 – Baby Seat (9–18 kg)
For babies from around 6 months to approximately 4 years old. This is the most versatile seat and many models (0–1) can even be adapted for newborns when fully reclined and fitted with newborn inserts, as is the case with most of our baby seats. However, if the baby is over 6 months old and has reached the required height, they may continue to travel rear-facing without reclining the seat. From age 3 onwards, and only if the child has reached the proper size and strength, they may travel forward-facing without the newborn inserts. This baby seat still includes its own safety harness.
Group 2 – Child Seat (+15 kg)
Designed for children from around 4 years old. This is a high-back booster seat for children who already travel without harnesses, in the forward-facing position, using the vehicle’s own seat belt while still benefiting from proper back support.
Group 3 – Booster Seat (18–36 kg)
Suitable for children over 4 years old and up to around 12. These booster seats allow the child to travel forward-facing using the car’s seat belt, without the need for a backrest. Please note that under no circumstances may a child travel in the front seats, even when using the appropriate child seat.
Conditions for Requesting Your Child Seat
MarbeTaxi vehicles are not required to carry child seats unless they have been requested in advance. During the booking process—whether through our homepage reservation form, email, or WhatsApp—you will be asked whether you are travelling with children and their ages. Whether you request a specific seat or follow our recommendation, you are responsible for booking the correct car seat for your child. Otherwise, for safety and legal reasons, the driver may refuse to provide the service if the necessary child seats were not requested. Each car seat has an additional cost of €3 per unit and per journey, which will be added to the final, pre-agreed price of your private transfer.
FAQs – Child Seat Regulations in Spain
Below you’ll find the most common questions regarding the use of child seats in Spain, with a special focus on taxis and private transfer services such as MarbeTaxi.
Is it allowed for children to travel in a taxi without a child seat?
In Spain, all children must always travel using their corresponding child seat. There is one exception: regular city taxis may transport children without a child seat only for urban journeys. As soon as the taxi uses interurban roads or travels from one town to another, the use of a child seat becomes mandatory again. Vehicles with a VTC licence (private transfers) have no exceptions at all: children must always travel in their proper child seat on any road and for any type of journey.
Can I insist, as a parent, that my child travels without a child seat?
If you did not request the child seat during the booking process or intentionally omitted it, the driver is not obliged to carry out the service for safety and legal compliance reasons. In the exceptional event that a parent asks for the child to travel without a seat, and even in the unlikely case that the driver considers the journey safe (our drivers are trained not to accept these situations), the legal responsibility falls entirely on the parent. In the event of a police inspection, the fine is €200, payable immediately upon receiving the sanction notice.
I have several children — do I need to request multiple child seats?
Yes. We provide all the required child seats at an additional cost of €3 per seat and per journey. Please note that in a single row of three seats, two child seats plus another passenger will not fit. If you need at least two child seats and are also travelling with at least two adults, you will need to select a minivan to ensure proper space and safety.
Can I request a child seat similar to the ones used in my country?
If your country belongs to the European Union, there is no need to worry. All EU countries follow the same homologation and standardisation system for child seats. We follow the official EU groups (0 to 3) based on the child’s weight and height. If you come from a non-EU country, we must strictly follow the regulations established by the Spanish Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT), which are based on European safety standards.
